We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead the technical direction and development of our new international ticketing platform at Piletilevi PLG. 

In this pivotal role, you will guide the evolution of scalable architecture, ensure high-quality delivery across the engineering team and foster a collaborative, innovative environment that supports both team excellence and business goals.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:       


  • lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable, secure, and maintainable system architecture;
  • ensure high-quality, reliable code and enforce engineering best practices across the team;
  • oversee technical execution, including testing strategies, CI/CD processes, documentation, and code reviews;
  • identify delivery bottlenecks and drive improvements in tooling, workflows, and engineering processes;
  • collaborate with the Product Owner on planning, prioritisation, estimation, and roadmap alignment;
  • manage technical risks, resource allocation, and delivery timelines to ensure predictable execution;
  • develop backend code in Java / Spring / Postgres and frontend in Angular and promote modern design patterns in those technologies;
  • drive measurable productivity gains through structured AI adoption, aiming to multiply engineering output without compromising quality or maintainability;

  • facilitate smooth collaboration across engineering, product, and other functional teams.

  • communicate transparently and consistently with developers and stakeholders;
  • conduct regular 1:1s, support goal-setting, and ensure team alignment;
  • build a positive, collaborative, and psychologically safe team culture;
  • motivate team members and recognise achievements to maintain high engagement;
  • mentor engineers in technical growth, problem-solving, and career development;
  • address performance issues empathetically with structured feedback;
  • manage team conflicts constructively and promote healthy communication;
  • encourage continuous learning, improvement, and innovation. 



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in leadership roles in software development. 
  • +6 years of experience as a Java developer. 
  • Strong understanding of scalable system architecture and modern development practices. 
  • Experience with REST APIs, microservices, transaction processing, CI/CD pipelines, and testing strategies. 
  • Proficiency with relational databases. 
  • Experience in Kubernetes, Kafka, and/or GCP will be a plus. 
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills. 
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with people leadership and business priorities. 
  • Experience mentoring developers and supporting team growth. 
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies. 
  • Fluent in English.
